Have you ever slipped into a funk and found yourself saying or doing hurtful things? Sometimes we end up hurting people who had nothing to do with what got us upset in the first place! The fact is, it’s a lot easier to throw a pity party than it is to pick up after one. Proverbs 4:23 tells us to guard our heart with all vigilance. We need to learn to monitor our thoughts, actions, imaginations and motives, and take our offenses to God. When we humble ourselves and make Jesus our focus, He fills us with peace and gives us a willingness to treat others with unconditional love and respect.
