Hello Fellowship Family:
I am a firm believer that God has a personality and that if ever God wanted us to laugh at anyone He gave us that person when He allowed mirrors to be invented.
So I thought I would share my funny with each of you. I am in the process of shedding baby weight. So far, so good. So normally I will walk around my neighborhood which is 1.4 miles. I will usually walk around 2-3 times and feel good. Not too fatigued, not too lazy.
Today I wanted to switch it up and decided I would ride one of the children’s bikes. Riiigght. Now the last time I was on a bike the 15 year old was probably 5 (that’s stretching it) however, how hard could it be? So I call my son, he gets the bike out for me and watches me get on this bike with the biggest grin you ever did see. I tell him “I got it” and off I go. Until I get to the end of the driveway and realize the brakes aren’t as good as I would like. So he shows me how to use his brakes and off I go.
By the time I reach the first corner, Iam thinking…Hmmmm maybe this will get easier as I go. Then I ride to the next corner and not only is it not any easier but my backside is not in agreement with this seat. At any rate. I thought I was going to be able to whip around the neighborhood grinning and happy like I see the children when they ride together. Ummm not so much. By the time I rounded the final corner all I could think was, Lord Give Me Strength! I was so happy to see my house I tried to push it that last little bit, only to realize my knees were wobbly and I had appearantly already used up all my push it juice just to make it around once. So I got off the bike, knees wobbly and sweating like a sinner in Golden Corral on a Sunday afternoon. That was it. I parked the bike and settled on a cup of coffee.
You probably want to know why I am sharing this. The reason is simple. It’s Friday and it was funny to me. Sometimes we want to take ourselves so seriously that we don’t want to take a moment and laugh. Overall what I am doing is good. I am working on preserving the temple that God has entrusted to me. However even He must have chuckled to see that bike shakin’ underneath me, thinking of the Friends episode where Phoebe wanted a beanbag chair for her bike. I know the kids and I have been chuckling all morning.
John 16:33
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. (KJV)
PS If you feel like you want to become a more healthy person, but think you will look foolish when you start. Don’t let that discourage you, just get to it. You can’t look any sillier than I did today:)
1 Corinthians 6:19
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own
